Terms and Conditions
- To qualify for the NEBHE tuition discount, students must declare a degree in a program approved for residents of their state and enroll in at least one course per semester that applies to this approved major, and demonstrate satisfactory progress in the approved major. These requirements must be in place prior to the end of the course add/drop period each semester. If you did not receive NEBHE in the previous term, please reach out to your Dean’s Office before the end of the add/drop period to request to be reviewed for eligibility.
- If a student drops the eligible course(s) or drops the approved major before or during the course add/drop period, they will no longer be eligible for reduced tuition and will be billed accordingly.
- Eligibility for a future term will be re-evaluated based on the student’s declared major and course registration for that future term. Approval for eligible NEBHE programs is not retroactive; therefore, the discount cannot be applied to past terms.
- It is the responsibility of the student to review the tuition bill statement each semester to confirm the NEBHE tuition discount is applied. If the NEBHE tuition discount is expected, but is not listed on the bill, please contact Student Financial Services.
- Students participating in a study abroad program are not eligible for the NEBHE tuition discount for the term(s) abroad. The only exception to this policy is for students participating in the UVM Semester Abroad program to Costa Rica run through the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
- For students admitted Fall 2019 or after, the NEBHE tuition break eligibility will reduce UVM merit scholarship by 30%. This reduction reflects a proration of the scholarship based on the reduced tuition rate with the NEBHE tuition credit. The full merit scholarship amount will be reinstated during a semester of NEBHE ineligibility. All other scholarship terms and conditions remain in effect and can be reviewed at UVM Scholarship Policies.
- Summer Internships courses with the prefix “SINT” not for degree-eligible academic credit are not eligible to receive NEBHE tuition break. Regular internship courses, billed at standard tuition rates, for degree-eligible academic credit may qualify for NEBHE tuition break.
