After successfully participating in the Health Professions Portfolio process, you are ready to submit your application to medical or dental school.

Medical, dental, and osteopathic medical schools use centralized application services, which simplifies the application process.

Application Services

Typically, students submit their applications to medical and dental school during the summer one year before they wish to start a program. The American Medical College Application Services (AMCAS) is the centralized application system for medical schools, while the ADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) is the centralized system for dental schools. Interviews

Schools have different timelines for interviewing candidates. You may receive invitations from early fall through March. Prepare for interviews by staying curious about the field, reflecting on your experiences and goals, practicing how you tell your story, and using the resources below.

Choosing a program

If you are accepted to multiple programs, the final step of the process will be determing which school to attend. Consider factors like the coursework, clinical experiences, notable faculty, research opportunities, program costs, location, and data about a program's residency placements. It is your responsibility to be aware of each school's deadline for indicating your intent to enroll.
