TREK is a student-led wilderness
orientation for incoming UVM students sponsored by the Office
of Student Life and the UVM Outing Club.
About TREK
TREK is an intense small group experience involving outdoor
adventure, leadership development, or community service. It
brings new students to Vermont before the Connections
orientation, and builds strong bonds between group members.
Led by an upperclass student, TREKs are roughly five days
long. They can involve canoeing in the wilds of VT or NY
state, working on the Appalachian trail, developing group and
individual leadership skills, participating in a ropes course,
or helping low-income, rural Vermonters through a community
service program, among other things.
ALL TREKs are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and
space is at a premium! If you are interested, fill out the
TREK application in your Orientation packet and get it in fast
-- We always have a waiting list!!

Hey Everyone- If you haven't seen signs or heard from others,
I'd like to officially announce that we are having our
first info session with student wilderness leaders who are
interested in leading the Wilderness TREK orientation
program for first year students. For those who have been
involved with TREK either as leaders or participants, you know
this is the most awesome way to begin your year (or career!)
at UVM.
TREK dates for Summer 2004 are:
Training at the OC Cabin.................

As leaders usually need to alter summer plans and work
schedules to accommodate their commitment to TREK, please make
these arrangements ASAP if you're employed and plan ahead if
you are still in search of work.
Also, TREK leaders need to have a Minimum of a (WFR)Wilderness
First Responder and assistant leaders (WFA)Wilderness

be made.
I'm really psyched to have such a great community of student
