UVM OUTING CLUB

Fall 2007 Trips Schedule

Here it is folks, your OC menu to adventure, learning, and outrageous fun for the semester!  Prices for trips are unbeatable (and dramatically slashed from last year’s prices!)  All trip prices include meals, transportation and rental of any equipment needed.

The Gnarly Factor:

*One snowflake indicates a trip geared toward all experience levels; from newcomers looking for an introduction to an activity to pros looking for a low-key jaunt to meet some new friends…
**Two snowflakes indicate a trip of moderate intensity; absolutely still open to newcomers eager to test their limits a little and built a foundation of experience, as well as those comfortable with the activity who are looking to get out of town and keep their backcountry gears well-oiled.
***Three-snowflake trips are for students who are already comfortable spending extended amounts of time outdoors, or are ready to dive into the experience head-first with the support and guidance of their fabulous Outing Club leaders.

How to Sign Up for Trips: The OC puts out wilderness trips every weekend, in all seasons and during winter and spring breaks. To find out which trips are scheduled, you can call the Outing Club, e-mail, check the OC webpage or stop by the house. We recommend you call and check on the status of your trip two weeks prior to the date it is scheduled to go out. If there is a trip that you are interested in joining, the sign-up process goes like this:

Option #1
1. Come to the OC House (behind Dewey).
2. PAY FOR THE TRIP-- your spot on the trip is not secure unless you have done so. All weekend trips are $30 for in-state trips and $35 for out-of-state trips. Day trips are $20 for instate and $25 for out-of-state. There may be further expense attached to specialty kayaking, caving and climbing programs. PLEASE PAY BY CHECK, Cash, or CatScratch!
3. Put your name, phone# and e-mail address on the list.
4. Pick-up packing list and leader contact sheet.
Option #2
Stop by the Outing Club desk in the SGA space on the 3rd floor of the Davis Center.

After completing these painless steps, your trip leaders will contact you with details of time and place for a mandatory pre-trip meeting to discuss what gear you will need, what prior experience you have and what your goals are for your chosen trip. Most gear is available through the Outing Club, if you don’t have your own. Rental fees are included in the price of your trip!
