About Charlotte Archuletta

Charlotte "Carla" Archuletta, MA, LPC/MHSP-S, FT, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDRIA Approved Consultant and Certified EMDR Therapist, and Fellow in Thanatology whose work centers on the intersection of grief, trauma, serious illness, caregiving, dementia, and end-of-life care.

Carla maintains a private counseling and consultation practice and serves as a facilitator for EMDR Basic Training through Connect Training and Consulting. Her EMDR work focuses on grief and loss, medical trauma, serious illness, caregiving, and adapting EMDR therapy for older adults and people living with dementia.

She is an instructor with the University of Vermont, where she teaches in the End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate Program and the Grief and Bereavement Specialist Certificate Program. She also developed the university’s End-of-Life Dementia Care Professional Certificate, which brings together person-centered dementia care, grief, caregiver support, and end-of-life companioning.

Carla provides continuing education and professional training on grief, trauma, end-of-life care, and related clinical topics. Her work also includes international collaboration with EMDR clinicians and researchers exploring the application of EMDR therapy across aging, dementia, caregiving, and end-of-life contexts.

She is coauthor of “Health-Medical Challenges and Grief: Group EMDR Therapy for Patients and Caregivers,” published in EMDR Group Therapy: Emerging Principles and Protocols to Treat Trauma and Beyond (Springer Publishing), and author of an article on anticipatory grief for the National Board for Certified Counselors’ Visions e-newsletter.
