A small group of students sitting in a row of tables at the Skinny Pancake on campus. The two students in the front facing each other appear most visible – the one on the left is wearing a faded red tie-and-dye shirt and eating a meal. The student on the right is wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, and smiling while working on their laptop.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) is a survey for eligible first-years and seniors. The NSSE asks undergraduates about their participation in programs and activities to get a better sense of how undergraduates are spending their time and what are they gaining from their college experience. By participating in the NSSE, students get to provide feedback on how the university is performing and how their undergraduate experience can be improved.

About NSSE

The NSSE is a widely popular survey that asks students to reflect on their college experience and report on what they are gaining from attending college.

How to Participate

UVM is inviting all first-year and senior students (determined by class year and credit hours) to complete the survey.

The survey will be open starting on February 28th. Eligible students will be sent an email with the NSSE invitation link directly from Provost Prelock. Be sure to check your inbox and search for the Provost's name Patricia Prelock, if needed!

The NSSE survey typically takes between 8-10 minutes to complete.

Incentives

In appreciation for participating, the first 100 students to complete the survey are guaranteed to receive a $10 UVM Bookstore e-gift card!

All students who complete the survey by Wednesday, April 3rd will be entered into a drawing to win one of the following prizes:
• Thirty $25 UVM Bookstore e-gift cards
• Three Noise Cancelling Headphones.
• Three Anker Power Bank portable chargers.

Timeline

February 28, 2024 - April 3, 2024.

Why should I participate?

Simply put, your participation makes a difference. It is a way for you to have a voice in your education, to let the university know what it is doing right, as well as identify areas for improvement.
