Institute for Agroecology Fund

Your gift will provide core support for the Institute. Your support helps to accelerate research, education, and outreach to foster sustainable food systems in Vermont, the United States, and the world.

The Institute for Agroecology Endowment Fund

Your gift will contribute to the long-term sustainability of the institute and of work on agroecology and sustainable food systems at the University of Vermont. The proceeds from the endowment will provide operational funds for the Institute for Agroecology to thrive.

Scholarships and Student Support

You can create a scholarship to support students wishing to pursue undergraduate and graduate education in agroecology, in preparation for leadership in a variety of sectors. An annual gift of $5,000 or more over two or more years can help students right away. A commitment of $50,000 or more can create a permanently endowed scholarship.

Community-Partnerships for Equitable Food Systems Fund

You can provide grants for collaborative research on equity, sustainability and food systems with a commitment of $10,000 or more. Each project will involve a partnership between a UVM faculty member and one partner from a community organization. These projects will focus on equity and will include both local and internationally focused research and learning projects.

Partnerships and Public Events

You can support symposia, seminars and conferences to connect leaders in food-related issues to the Institute for Agroecology with a commitment of $10,000 or more. With your gift, you will strengthen the UVM’s relationships with the local and broader community and provide opportunities for students and faculty to apply their knowledge practically and effectively beyond campus.

Increasing Access for Underserved Populations

Like many areas, we have a critical need to bring diverse voices and experiences to our work. A $250,000 donation supports the opportunity to create an endowment that can help students from historically underrepresented or underserved groups.

Named Endowed Chair

A $3 million investment in an endowed chair for the Institute’s Faculty Director. An Endowed chair in Agroecology would provide a solid and long-lasting foundation that ensures there will always be a qualified faculty leader at the helm of the Institute for Agroecology. At the moment, there is only one endowed chair/professorship in agroecology in the United States, at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This is an opportunity to significantly advance the field in a U.S. land grant university and send a strong signal for agroecology across the U.S. Establishing an endowed chair allows a donor to align their name with academic excellence at an Institute with a high profile in the U.S. and globally both within and outside of the scientific community.
