New Student Insight Sessions

Join us throughout the summer for New Student Insight Sessions, which will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse resources available at UVM. These sessions are designed to support you and ensure a seamless transition into university life.

Can't make one of the session dates listed below? No worries, all sessions will be recorded, captioned, and later posted to YouTube. Links to these recorded sessions will be posted to this New Student Insight Sessions webpage.

MAY

Beginning May 15, 2024 weekely emails will be sent to your UVM email inbox, ensuring you are reminded of upcoming events and kept up-to-date with any important tasks, dates, or Fall related infromation.

Wednesday, May 15 - New Student Checklist: Your one stop to all the information you need to complete tasks throughout the summer, your New Student Checklist will be updated throughout the summer with additional items to complete before your arrival to campus in August.

May 28 through May 30, 2024 - Academic Overview Sessions: Register for your Academic Overview Session via the item on your New Student Checklist. All Academic Overview Sessions are scheduled from May 28 - June 6, depending on the academic college. In your Academic Overview Session, you will connect with staff from your college and learn more about the services and opportunities available to you.

 

JUNE

Throughout the month of June, you will explore a wealth of resources and connect with various campus partners, all in preparation for your exciting journey to UVM!

June 3 through June 6, 2024 - Academic Overview Sessions: Register for your Academic Overview Session via the item on your New Student Checklist. All Academic Overview Sessions are scheduled from May 28 - June 6, depending on the academic college. In your Academic Overview Session, you will connect with staff from your college and learn more about the services and opportunities available to you.

Wednesday, June 5, 2024 - Start your required Vector Learning Modules: Empower, prepare, and educate yourself about important issues in our community through interactive online trainings. Find more information and access your learning modules through your New Student Checklist. The Vector Learning Modules are required for all incoming new students to UVM, and must be completed before your arrival to campus this fall.

Monday, June 17, 2024 at 7pm EST - Patrick Leahy Honors College Informational Session: Join us in meeting the faculty and staff from the Patrick Leahy Honors College (PLHC), who will enhance your experience as an honors student at UVM. The session link will be emailed to all students accepted to PLHC for the fall.

Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 7pm EST - Financial Foundations - Building a Solid Foundation with UVM Student Financial Services for your UVM Financial Journey:
Gain insight on how to successfully nagivate the financial aspects of your UVM education. Join our knowledgeable representatives from the Student Financial Services office as they demystify billing and financial aid processes for incoming first-year and transfer students, along with families/supporters. This session is designed to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of the billing and financial aid processes at UVM before the mid-July billing release date.

Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 7pm EST - Family Guide to College Transition: Co-presented by Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Erica Caloiero, and Assistant Dean of Students, Joe Russell, this session will provide students and their families/supporters an introduction to the college transition and provide UVM resources for healthy, engaged, and successful Catamounts.

Monday, June 24, 2024 at 7pm EST - Student Accessibility Services: Join us for an informative session in which you will meet staff from Office of Student Accessibility Services. During this session you will learn about the comprehensive support offered, resources available, and the accommodations process.

Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 7pm EST - Dining 101: Navigate, Explore, and Connect: UVM Dining is dedicated to offering food options that nourish students and provide spaces for them to feel healthy, successful, and engaged. Join us as we guide you through our dining halls, meal plans, dietary accommodations, and sustainability initiatives and offer valuable dining tips to enhance your university experience.

Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7pm EST - Your Campus, Your Home: Welcome to Residential life at UVM: Welcome to Residential Life at UVM! Experience a virtual tour of a residence hall, meet our staff, and learn more about the on-campus experience.

Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 7pm EST - UVM Billing FAQs with Student Financial Services: New first-year and transfer students and their families/supporters are encouraged to attend this session as fall semester bills roll out to registered students in mid-July, and we know that you may have a few questions. Don’t hesitate to join us for an informative session where we address the top billing and financial aid questions that both students and parents have. Let’s ensure your financial confidence at UVM!

Let’s get ready. This month, we want you to feel prepared and excited to join us at the end of the month for your on-campus New Student Orientation!

Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 7pm EST - Family Webinar "Tools and Tips": This session is designed specifically for our family members and supporters. We will share information regarding campus safety, health and wellbeing support services, and helpful advice to prepare your Catamount for their transition to college life and residential living. The session will conclude with a Q&A.

Meet the dedicated teams in your community who will help you stay connected and supported in your new home. Plus, join a breakout session where you’ll meet your Learning Community & Residence Education staff, Resident Assistant (RA), and the other residents living in your area!

Join UVM senior adminstrators for a question and answer session to help you feel more prepared as your student transitions to UVM later this week.
