Academic Travel Programs
Short-Term Opportunities
Travel Study
UVM’s Travel Study courses take students around the globe to Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. Courses are offered year-round, during the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer semesters. For those who have not travelled extensively, it’s an ideal opportunity to see the world for the first time. Financial aid may be applied toward to cost of courses.

Semester-Long Opportunities
Study Abroad
Studying abroad will help you develop and hone skills that stand out to employers. UVM has hundreds of programs for you to choose from, including many that cost no more (and sometimes less) than a semester would at UVM. Classes can be taken in a foreign language or in English, even in countries where English isn't the native language. There is no doubt that you can find a program that meets your academic goals!

The Washington Center (D.C.)
Spend a semester interning in Washington DC while earning 15 UVM credits! Intern 4 days per week, take one seminar course, and complete professional development opportunities designed to get you ready for the job market. All majors welcome! Internships available at over 600 organizations in DC.

Use various forms and styles of written communication, accept responsibility, organize people and tasks to achieve specific goals.
Semester in the City (Boston)
Spend a semester interning in the social sector in Boston. Intern 4 days per week, take two professional development seminars and earn 15 UVM credits. All majors welcome and internships are available at over 100 mission-driven businesses around Boston (non-profit, for-profit and governmental bodies).

Identify resources and materials useful in the solution of a problem, assess needs, follow through.
Arts in Action (New York City)
Students will spend a semester interning in New York and gaining firsthand knowledge of the art world and arts in community. This program is for students that are interested in using the visual arts and the city of New York as a lens for exploring and understanding issues of inequality and the struggle for social justice. Intern 3 days per week, take an online course, and participate in professional development activities to earn 15 UVM credits. All majors welcome and internships are available at organizations that intersect with art and art activism in many ways.

Alternative Spring Break
Since 1991, the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program has offered students opportunities to do service in communities outside of their own by sending groups on week-long, substance-free volunteer trips over spring break.

Identify quickly and accurately the primary issues when making a decision or solving a problem, analyze tasks and set priorities, identify resources and materials useful in the solution of a problem.
TREK
TREK is a unique community-building and enrichment program for incoming first-year UVM students led by experienced peers. TREK experiences offer new UVM students diverse experiential learning opportunities and promote the ideals of engagement, self-discovery and connection to future classmates.
