GENERAL MAIL FAQ's

Student: I can't find my package, can you help?

Yes, please first check with your residence hall mail room/office to see if your package is there. All USPS packages received by UVM are delivered to residence halls the same day we receive them - often before noon. All other carriers deliver directly to your residence hall mail room/office. All USPS packages released to UVM are received by 8:00 AM Monday - Saturday (except for holidays). Some packages may be scanned delivered by USPS, but are not released to UVM. USPS notifications that your packages was delivered often arrive at your residence hall the following day but in some cases may take several days. However if you are on break, your package will be forwarded to your last known updated address in your 'myuvm portal.' If after reading this you still think your package is on campus, you can submit a "Where's my package" request.

Student: Do you have my package there at the Print & Mail Center?

PMC does not bring any student packages to the Print & Mail Center. Once packages are received by USPS in the mornings, they are delivered directly to the residence hall mail rooms. We encourage you to first check with your residence hall mail room/office to see if your package is there. "But it says USPS delivered it to UVM." Unfortunately, these scans are not always accurate. The reason for this is because UVM does not possess the same tracking/notification software that is being used by the USPS. To complete their own workflows, they are forced to scan it delivered before passing it onto us. Even then, we may not receive the packages from the USPS for several days. Please know that we work hard to make sure packages are delivered to each residence hall the same day they are receive from the USPS, and we do this every day Monday-Saturday (except for holidays). If after reading this you still think your package is on campus, you can submit a "Where's my package" request.

UVM Staff: How do I manage/get new PMC Shipping Codes?

This is done using the web based PMC Code Management System (CMS).

Student/UVM Staff: Do I need a PMC Code when requesting print work at PMC?

No, we have software that can take the full chartstring length. We hope to make the change for other vendors as well, but PMC Shipping Codes are still required for metered mail, Fedex and UPS. Student's can always pay with cash, check, credit card.

UVM Staff: Can I create my own Fedex/UPS user account?

You can, but you won't have access to our steep discounted rates that can save you up to 80%. Departments can do this using the web based PMC Code Management System (CMS).

UVM Staff: What Peoplesoft accounts need to be opened to use a charstring with the Print & Mail Center?

Please note that this may involve contacting your financial/budget manager or SPA. If you don't understand what these numbers are, its okay, they will.
Print - 80023 (E6000, E6010, F6011)
Mail - 80025/80033 (E6000, E6012, F6002)

UVM Staff: How do I get access to create my own UPS/Fedex labels?

This is done using the web based PMC Code Management System (CMS).

UVM Staff: I get a PMC Code not valid error when trying to create a UPS/Fedex label

Most likely UPS and Fedex was not selected as an allowable use by your Department's CMS Manager. First contact your Department CMS Manager and verify that the chartstring you want to use is approved for UPS/Fedex charges against Peoplesoft account 80025. If approved, this can all be done using the web based PMC Code Management System (CMS).
