STUDENT MOVE OUT IS BACK! DONATE YOUR STUFF!

During move-out week we set up donation stations in all residence halls to collect clothing, food and other household items. This stuff is collected, sorted and donated to local charitable organizations, and useful items are kept out of the landfill. Look for special donation bins in the lobby of your res hall beginning in early May.

"Take It or Leave It" areas will be set up outside the residence halls for larger, bulky items including rugs, futon frames and furniture.

Donation barrels ARE NOT trash bins! Please be courteous of our staff and properly dispose of all trash and recycling in the proper location.

Every year, student move-out generates almost five tons of clothing, food and household items! That's 10,000 pounds!

Large Items

Outside

Bring large, heavy and bulky items such as couches, rugs, carpets, cement blocks, appliances, refrigerators, microwaves, lamps & furniture to the outdoor "Take It or Leave It" spots designated outside each residence hall.

"Take it or Leave it" areas will be set up during Finals Week.

Please roll up rugs and carpets neatly!

Please do not leave items you wish to keep near piles of donations or trash as they might get taken by accident. Move-out time is hectic and many people stage their belongings someplace while getting their car ready or waiting for a ride. Please always be keep an eye on your things to be safe. Anything left outside may end up in the donation pile or as trash.

Collection trucks from ReSOURCE, Habitat for Humanity and other agencies will be making the rounds on Thursday and Friday of Finals Week to pick up useful furniture. Other community organizations and individuals are also allowed to remove and salvage stuff from these designated "Take it of Leave it" areas.

Smaller Items

In the Res Hall Lobby

During finals week look for collection barrels inside your res hall main lobby. These barrels are for the following items:

  • Clothing
All items must be clean. Please bundle or tie shoes together so they don't lose each other! *note we do not accept blankets and linens.

  • Food and Toiletries

  • Small Household Items
Includes dishes, baskets, lamps, art supplies, school supplies, pots and pans, vases, brooms, small appliances, toasters, decorations, etc. Please wrap fragile and glass items in newspaper! NO SHARP KNIVES.
