Fourth Genre Stein

Miller Williams Poetry Series

Literal Latte Essay Awards

Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest

Tom Howard Prize: $1,500 for poem in any style or genre, Margaret Reid Prize: $1,500 for poem that rhymes or has traditional style. Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry

Glimmer Train Standard Submissions

Main Street Rag Poetry Book Contest

Voices of the Middle East and North Africa, Nimrod International Journal

Poems, short stories, and creative nonfiction pieces from writers from the Middle East and North Africa, including writers currently living in this region, writers from the region currently living abroad, and writers of Middle Eastern and North African heritage, and translations of the work of such writers. Stories/creative nonfiction: 7,500 word limit; Poetry: 7 page limit. No previously published works. Entry fee: $3, includes one-year subscription. The Breakwater Fiction Contest

Previously unpublished prose ranging 1,000-5,000 words. $10 fee per submission. Prize: $1,000 and publication in Winter issue. All finalists considered for publication. Submissions accepted year round, submit by Dec 15 to be entered into next year's contest.

 

The Moth Poetry Prize

First Prize: €10,000, 3 runner-up prizes of €1,000. All submissions must be previously unpublished. 4 shortlisted poems will feature in spring issue of The Moth. Winners invited to special prizegiving at Poetry Ireland in Dublin in spring 2019. €12 fee per poem. Submit by Dec 31.

Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics

Articulate with clarity an ethical issue that you have encountered and analyze what it has taught you about ethics and yourself. Note that the most engaging essays often reflect deeply on a particularly meaningful experience or episode in one’s life. Registered undergraduate full-time Juniors or Seniors at accredited four-year colleges or universities in the United States during the Fall 2018 Semester. Massachusetts Historical Society Boston Seminar Series

The Society's six seminar series offer an excellent chance to meet accomplished scholars and authors. Join us to explore topics in-depth in a conversational setting, and help to shape works-in-progress. Each series meets 4-7 times during the academic year. Each session focuses on the discussion of pre-circulated works in progress, especially article or chapter-length papers, distributed to seminar registrants three weeks before the program. We invite proposals (500 words) and CVs from interested researchers by March 15.

 

Kalalak (an annual anthology)

A contest for individual poems and art. Work that evokes the Spirit of the Carolinas, from the Outer Banks and Low Country to the Piedmont and Appalachia. Entry fee: $12 for 1-3 poems or 1-3 images. Blacklist Journal

We are a student-run publication seeking work that balances clarity, experimentation, and bite. We publish fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and all forms of visual art that can be rendered in a 2-D still or moving format. Deadline for next year's Spring issue is March 24.

Princess Grace Film Awards

For graduate and undergraduate students who are working on their thesis films. The category of Film is comprised of (but not limited to) narrative/documentary/experimental/animation/hybrid  work, as well as new work including media installations, transmedia, webisodes, interactive web work and other projects where the moving image is the primary component. These grants will be made in accordance with the student’s thesis project budget; no administrative charges, overhead or indirect costs incurred by the school may be charged against the grant. American-Scandinavian Foundation

$2,500 prize and publication for English translation of poetry/fiction/creative nonfiction written in Nordic language. $2,000 prize and publication to translator whose translations have not been previously published. The Francine Ringold Awards for New Writers

Rattle Poetry Prize

Previously unpublished poems of any length, style, or subject. $25 entry fee (1-year subscription to Rattle) allows for up to 4 poems submitted. Sinister Wisdom Writing Submissions

Sisnister Wisdoms publishes work by anyone who identifies as a lesbian. Material may be in any style or form, or combination of forms. Vantage Point

The Writers Guild

Join the writers guild, a writing club where students peer-review writing in weekly/bi-weekly meetings. "We are Worldspinners. We are the ones who love to spin story webs. The Cynic

Internship
