Geospatial technologies play a major role at UVM by supporting teaching and research as well as community outreach within the state of Vermont and around the world. These technologies and their applications are supported by the University and grants funded by the federal government (EPA, NSF, NASA), state government (VT Agency of Natural Resources), and non-profit organizations to name a few.

This research supports graduate and undergraduate student stipends and internships. Find out more about the many current and past projects carried out by UVM faculty, staff, and their students.

Students

Information about degrees in GST can be found on our Academics page.

Many GST students are successful at finding research funding during the academic year through their college or the UVM Office of Fellowships, Opportunities and Undergraduate Research (FOUR). Research experiences can also earn credit as Independent Studies with a faculty advisor (see Academics for requesting credit for internships). Students have also found support from their colleges and FOUR for travel to present research at a conference.

The annual UVM Student Research Conference is a great venue to showcase your work.

Community Partners

Faculty and students work with a wide range of community partners, such as the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, town governments, and local non-profits. Want to get connected? Reach out to faculty or to local organizations.
