  • The Process

    1. Consult ENVS advisors about internship ideas.
    2. Connect with an organization and receive their approval.
    3. Submit your internship capstone proposal.
    4. Register credits in ENVS 4500 with ENVS advisor permission according to the guidelines below.
    5. Enroll in a 3000-level course that relates to the internship.
    6. Work a minimum of 200 hours of work with the sponsoring organization.
    7. Submit final evaluations from site supervisor and ENVS Faculty evaluator.
    8. Submit final report (PDF) documenting and evaluating personal internship experience submitted to Faculty advisor. (Final Report Example-DOCX).

Academic credit for the Capstone Internship is as follows:

  • 1 credit registered for submission of a capstone internship proposal
  • 3 credits registered in the semester in which 200 hours of internship begins
  • 2 credits registered in the semester in which a final capstone internship report is submitted to your faculty internship advisor for evaluation.

IF YOU ARE A PART-TIME STUDENT, FINAL CAPSTONE CREDITS MAY RESULT IN NEW TUITION CHARGES. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY OR ASK STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES BEFORE GOING PART-TIME WHAT THE COST OF COMPLETING YOUR CAPSTONE WORK WILL BE.

Once a student has registered for a total of six credits, the student will have to complete all aspects, as described above, of their capstone by the end of that semester. If a student does not complete this work, the student will have to dis-enroll from the appropriate number of credits and add them to the semester in which the work is completed.
