The Sponsored Project Routing Form is an embedded electronic form within the InfoEd system under the tab called "Internal Documents."  This key document provides important information about proposal commitments for department chairs, deans and SPA during the proposal routing and approval process. Find below guidance on completing the Sponsored Project Routing Form.

Section 1 - Proposal Overview

  • InfoEd Proposal Number - Next sequentially available number in InfoEd; also known as "Proposal Number"
  • Proposal Type - New or Competitive Renewal
  • Principal Investigator Name - Contact PI Name
  • Associated Department - This defaults to PI's home department. If proposal will be administered by a different department, change the Associated Department on InfoEd Setup Questions Tab.
  • Associated Program/Center - Department - This defaults to "none identified." If you wish to make use of the Program/Center chart field in the PeopleSoft Grant Chartstring, add the Program/Center on InfoEd Setup Questions Tab.
  • Sponsor Name - This refers to the direct sponsor name. If it needs to be corrected, please change the sponsor on the Setup Questions Tab.
  • Originating Sponsor Name - This refers to the "Prime" sponsor, or originating source of the funds, and will be used only for proposals where UVM is a subawardee. If it needs to be corrected, please change the sponsor on the Setup Questions Tab.

Section 2 - Project Title

  • Use this field to edit the project title. If you entered "TBD" at the time you initiated the proposal, you can change it to the correct title using this box.

Section 3 - Proposal Comments

  • Please enter any additional comments here that help explain and unusual or special circumstance of the proposal

Section 4 - Sponsor Guidelines

  • Provide website URL for Sponsor Guidelines, Funding Opportunity Number, PA, or RFA

Section 5 - Multiple PI Proposal

  • A Multiple Principal Investigator proposal includes more than one Principal Investigator or a Principal Investigator and a Co-Principal Investigator.

Section 6 - Research Protections and Compliance

  • Human Subjects (IRB)
  • Live Vertebrate Animals (IACUC)
  • Biohazardous Materials (IBC) (Infectious Agents, Toxins, and R-DNA)
  • Radioactive Substances, Lasers, and/or X-rays
  • Human or simian cells, tissue, blood or body fluids

Section 7 - SBIR or STTR Proposal

  • SBIR - The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. Through a competitive awards-based program, SBIR enables small businesses to explore their technological potential and provides the incentive to profit from its commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation's R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.
  • STTR - The Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) is another program that expands funding opportunities in the federal innovation research and development (R&D) arena. Central to the program is expansion of the public/private sector partnership to include the joint venture opportunities for small businesses and nonprofit research institutions. The unique feature of the STTR program is the requirement for the small business to formally collaborate with a research institution in Phase I and Phase II. STTR"s most important role is to bridge the gap between performance of basic science and commercialization of resulting innovations.

  • Will this proposal fund a Clinical Trial?

Section 11 - Gund Institute Related

By checking this box you are indicating that the Gund Institute supported or assisted the development of this proposal, or will be involved in the research if the proposal is successful. Support may include (but is not limited to):

  • Developing and coordinating a team to write the proposal
  • Drafting proposal text, budgets, or budget justifications
  • Editing and assembling diverse components into coherent proposal
  • Locating and engaging external partners for the proposed work
  • Negotiating budgets with the funder or sub-awardees
  • Providing logistical support for the research, such as meetings and travel
  • Providing space or other resources for any members of the research team
  • Assisting with proposed outreach and stakeholder engagement activities
  • A previous Gund Catalyst Award that provided seed funding for this proposal

Section 12 - Sustainablity Related (STARS Program)

  • This project is sustainability-related, defined as "Sustainability research or scholarship that explores solutions that simultaneously support social wellbeing, economic prosperity and ecological heath."

Section 13 - Programmatic and Space Needs

Select all that apply

  • Project will have an impact on or change academic programs currently offered
  • Project will involve lease or rent of non-UVM facilities (including land)
  • Project will require additional Lab Space other than that currently available to the PI
  • Project will require additional Office Space other than that currently available to the PI

Section 14 - Renovations, Construction and Space Modifacations

  • Check this box if project involves renovations or construction, OR, if equipment purchased under this project will require new space or significant modifications to existing space. Please contact Robert Vaughan, 656-1304, Director of Capital Planning and Management, prior to submitting proposal to the route. Proposal will be routed to Director of Capital Planning and Management for approval prior to submission to sponsor.
