Why is there is a charge on my student account?

Any costs that are not covered by the UVM Health Fee or the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) are applied to your student account. These may include Travel Clinic or Psychiatry visits, as well as immunizations, certain procedures and labs, and supplies like crutches.

We do not bill other insurance companies. If you have insurance other than the SHIP plan, contact them to see if you can be reimbursed for some or all of those costs. To view or print a statement for your CHWB visit, go to Mywellbeing, select Account Summary from the menu, and print the appropriate statement. This may be helpful when seeking reimbursement from your insurance company.

Will my insurance cover any or all of my charges?

Unfortunately we have no way of knowing what your insurance will cover. It will be up to you to contact your insurance company (preferably before you incur any charges) to see exactly what might or might not be covered.

I paid the UVM Health Fee. Doesn't that cover all charges?

No. The Health Fee covers many basic services, but it does not cover services like lab work, immunizations, orthopedic supplies, psychiatry or travel clinic visits, spirometry, or EKGs. See our Current charges (pdf) document for these services. It is important to note that the Health Fee is different from the UVM Student Health Insurance Plan (UVM SHIP).

I paid for the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Doesn't that cover all charges?

Even if you have UVM SHIP coverage, there are certain charges that are not covered under the plan. For full explanation of benefits please refer to www.universityhealthplans.com, the administrators of our plan.

I didn't pay the Health Fee automatically, but is it an option for me?

If you are taking more than 6 credits (5 for grad students) you have the option to pay the Health Fee; simply contact the billing office at shsbill@uvm.edu and the charge will be applied to your student account.

Do I need to pay the Health Fee to use Center for Health & Wellbeing services?

Yes. Information about Eligibility for CHWB Services can be found here.
