Lecturer, sound engineering

Zach Williamson is a guest lecturer of music at the University of Vermont, where he teaches Live Sound Reinforcement. Zach attended Oberlin College and immediately went into a career of sound design and engineering for theatrical productions. His career began at the Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk, VA and then onto New York. He lived and worked in New York for 14 years, designing sound for theater productions on and off Broadway, mixing at large outdoor music festivals, and working as the house audio engineer for the John Jay Theater. He also travelled and designed shows for theaters such as the Denver Center, the 5th Avenue Theater in Seattle, the Ordway in St. Paul, Kansas City Repertory Theater and the Dallas Theater Center. Currently, he is the associate sound designer for the hit musical Wicked, designs sound locally for select productions at the Vermont Stage Company, St. Michael's Playhouse and the UVM Theater Department and is the Production Manager at Burlington City Arts. He also runs an equipment sales and installation company, ZW Design, Inc.

Memorable productions: Designing sound at the Denver Center for a production of Sweeney Todd, featuring new orchestrations by DeVotchKa.
