Affiliate artist, oboe

Affiliate Artist Nadine Carpenter has been teaching oboe at the University of Vermont since 2004. She has been active as a performer and teacher in Vermont since 1978 and was a music educator in both New York and Vermont public schools for about 10 years.

Among the groups with which she has performed are Vermont Mozart Festival; Oriana Singers and Bella Voce: Schenectady, Plattsburgh, Middlebury College and UVM Symphony Orchestras; Capital District Opera Company in Albany, NY; Schenectady Light Opera Company, Lyric Theater in Burlington, Vermont Bach Winds, woodwind ensembles, and the Clifford Ball Orchestra (for the rock band Phish). Most recently she has performed with the Opera Company of Middlebury and is presently a member of the Burlington Chamber Orchestra, Vermont Symphonic Winds and the newly formed Burlington Civic Symphony Orchestra. She has also adjudicated at a number of All State and New England’s Music Festivals.

After having done administrative work for many years in UVM’s Department of Art and Art History, Mrs. Carpenter continues to maintain a very active private oboe studio at her home in South Burlington, VT. Many of her oboe students have performed with the Vermont Youth Orchestra and have continued their oboe studies at prominent music schools. She has a B.S. in Music Education from Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and has studied with Robert Sprenkle from Eastman School of Music and G. Randall Ellis from SUNY Albany and Mostly Mozart Festival of NYC.
