The FERC Advisory Board is responsible for the strategic direction of the organization. Current members are:

JOSHUA J. DASPIT is an Assistant Professor of Management at Mississippi State University and is affiliated with the university’s Center of Family Enterprise Research. His research interests include family business, knowledge, and exchange. His work has appeared in California Management Review, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Family Business Review, Journal of Business Research, and other outlets. He is on the review board of Family Business Review, where he also serves as social media editor. He was recognized as a Family Owned Business Institute Research Scholar and remains active in the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association. Prior to joining academia, he worked as a senior consultant for an international consulting firm and served as Director of Community Affairs for a member of Congress.

 

 

DANIEL T. HOLT is an Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business at Mississippi State University. He received his PhD in management from Auburn University. Prior to joining the faculty at Mississippi State University, he served as an active-duty U.S. Air Force officer, managing construction projects throughout the world, including Central America, Asia, and the Middle East.  Daniel’s research interests include family business, entrepreneurship, measurement methods, and organizational change.

 

 

 

 

NADINE KAMMERLANDER is the Professor of Family Business and Director of the Institute of Family Business at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. She earned her PhD from the Otto-Friedrich University in Bamberg, Germany. She currently is an Associate Editor of Family Business Review and serves on the Editorial Review Boards of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and Journal of Management.

Nadine Kammerlander was involved in organizing FERC's career academy in 2015. Her research focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and governance, and has been published in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Family Business Review.

 

CLAUDIO G. MULLER is a Professor at the School of Business and Economics at the University of Chile. Prior to joining the University of Chile, he was the founder of the Family - Owned Business Chair at the Universidad del Desarrollo, Chile. Claudio leads the FERC Spanish Discussion Group, a virtual conversation group with participants from the Americas, Europe and Asia. In addition, he is a co-editor and co-author of a book of case studies “Understanding Family Firms in Latin America: Theory and Application”, which will be published by Taylor & Francis in 2018. He has been committed to FERC for many years, especially when he acted as overall chair for the 9th Conference organized in Chile 2013, which was held in the southern hemisphere for the first time, then Claudio was the co-host of the 2015 conference in Burlington, Vermont, and of the 2016 conference in Nova Lima, Brazil. Currently, he is collaborating with several research teams and is a guest editor for several special issues in journals with high reputations regarding the topic of family businesses and Latin-American region.

 

DONALD O. NEUBAUM is a DeSantis Distinguished Professor in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Prior to joining FAU, he served as the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty in the College of Business at Oregon State University (OSU). Don is currently the Chair-Elect of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. He is the Senior Associate Editor for Family Business Review (FBR), and an Editor at Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (ETP). He serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Management.

He has been involved in the leadership of FERC since 2014, when he acted as co-program chair for the 2014 conference hosted in Portland, Oregon by OSU. His research has appeared in outlets such as Family Business Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Management, Journal of Operations Management and Journal of Business Venturing.

 

ALLISON PEARSON is the Giles Distinguished Professor of Management and a Grisham Master Teacher at Mississippi State University, where she also serves as Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs.   Allison served as FERC Co-President from 2007-2016.  She is an associate editor Family Business Review.  Her research in family firms focuses on behavioral topics, and includes research on family goals, intentions, values, legacy, and social capital. 

 

 

 

 

Pramodita SharmaPRAMODITA SHARMA is a Professor and the Daniel Clark Sanders Chair in Entrepreneurship & Family Business at the Grossman School of Business, University of Vermont. A vising professor at the Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management’s Center for Family Enterprises and ESADE Business School in Spain, she holds honorary doctorates from the Jönköping University in Sweden, and the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany.

Dita is the Co-Founder (w. Mark Green) of Family Enterprise Research Conference (FERC) and of the Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (FECC). She served as the Editor of Family Business Review (FBR) from 2009-2017. Her research on succession processes, governance, innovation, next generation commitment and entrepreneurial leadership in family enterprises has been honored with several international awards. In addition to eight co-authored books, she has published over fifty scholarly articles and book chapters on family business studies. She is one of the most frequently cited scholars in family business studies.

 

MANISHA SINGAL is an Associate Professor in the department of hospitality and tourism management in Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech University, USA. 
Her research explores how the ownership and governance of firms, especially family firms, influences their strategic decision-making and corporate social and financial performance. Dr. Singal is the recipient of several best paper awards at international conferences including the Family Enterprise Research Conference, and has published papers in management and hospitality-specific journals like Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of International Management, Family Business Review, and Cornell Hospitality Quarterly. She serves as coordinating editor for International Journal of Hospitality Management, and on the editorial review board of Family Business Review. 

Manisha teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels and has taught Strategic Management, Services Management, and International Business at Virginia Tech and other international universities.
