Dr. Chiang is a professor of real estate/finance. His research interests include real estate investment trusts, real estate mutual funds, real estate investments, sustainable real estate, and portfolio management. He has published approximately 40 academic papers; many of them are published in prestigious real estate and finance journals. His work is widely cited in leading real estate and finance journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Dr. Chiang has been retained as a testifying expert witness by legal advisory (including Am Law 100 and Legal 500) firms. He is a council member of the New York-based Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc. He has been providing consulting services to various regional real estate development and redevelopment projects. He is an editor for Current Urban Studies.
