Transfer TREK is a great opportunity for students who are transferring to UVM to meet other students. Students who transfer to UVM have typically spent at least some time at another college or university, thus we have a specifically designed TREK option.

This program is part of the Wilderness TREK program, but is designed to help familiarize you with the unique challenges facing transfer students at UVM. Each transfer student comes to UVM with valuable educational and professional life experiences: TREK creates a wilderness-based community where those experiences can be shared with other transfer students also about to begin their UVM journey.

Transfer TREK will be led by a student leader who recently transferred to UVM. As a fellow transfer student, he/she can share his or her own UVM experiences, including the academic, social, residential, athletic, and extracurricular aspects of UVM. You will hike on Vermont's Long Trail or the Adirondack High Peaks and experience the wonder of the Green Mountains. Your group of 8 students and 2 leaders will celebrate both the many opportunities available at UVM and the diversity you contribute to the larger UVM community. Finally, all TREK trips are open to every incoming student; you are welcome to choose the Wilderness TREK program that best meets your needs as a new transfer student.

TREK Questions:

Common Questions
When Does TREK take place?

TREK starts with check-in bright and early on Saturday August 22nd at Dudley H. Davis Center. If you need to arrive earlier you must make accommodations to do so in the area - we are unfortunately unable to provide on-campus housing options to students prior to TREK.

Students (and any accompanying family) will have a short period of time between check-in and departure to quickly move belongings into the student's residence hall.

TREK finishes on Thursday, August 27th with an all-TREK re-entry barbecue. That night, students will be able to stay in their residence hall room.

How do I sign up for Transfer TREK?

Detailed instructions on how to sign-up for a TREK trip are located on the Registration page. When registering you will have the ability to select the service trip you are interested in.

Please note: Spaces in TREK are limited and tend to fill quickly. Registration will be conducted on a first come, first served basis. We recommend you register as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.

Can I sign up for a non-transfer TREK?

Of course! Transfer TREK is only available to transfer students as a means to connect with other transfer students; but if you'd prefer to participate in a Wilderness TREK trip instead you are more than welcome to do so. Simply select your desired trip when filling out your registration.

Because of size restrictions, Service TREK trips are not available to transfer students.
