“His voice, guitar, and percussion instruments blended into a landscape that was transcendent.” ---LA Dance Review

Multi-talented Okaidja Afroso is an extraordinary guitarist, singer-songwriter, percussionist, and dancer, and he brings the richness of West African culture to audiences around the world. Now based in Portland, Oregon, he was born into a family of griots in the village of Kokrobite on Ghana’s West Coast and is deeply connected to the musical traditions of the African Diaspora. A former dancer with the Ghana Dance Ensemble, his concerts incorporate multiple art forms and are tremendously exciting to experience. He’ll be touring with his trio, which includes two percussionists and an array of traditional instruments from Ghana. Expect beautiful melodies, guitar, vocals, and rhythms of West Africa; exuberant dance; and heartfelt communication and energy. Okaidja was scheduled for March 27, 2020, and his concert was close to sold out when we learned that we had to shut our performance venue. We (and he) are absolutely delighted that we were able to rebook for early this season.

Live interpreter services may be arranged for this event with two weeks' advance notice. To request services, please email us directly at lane.series@uvm.edu.
