“Chiu is a stunningly virtuosic pianist with a dynamic range that almost defies the capabilities of modern recording techniques...” --- BBC Music Magazine

It’s been a few years since we have brought one of Frederic Chiu’s famous Classical Smackdown programs to our audience, and we thought it would be fun, in this era where it’s difficult to spend much time with other human beings, to present this live, interactive program. Unfortunately, Frederic lives in a county that makes it challenging for him to perform from the Recital Hall, but we have figured out a way for us to do this collaboratively but from his beautiful personal studio in Connecticut. Known for his astonishingly creative output, his unusual, quirky interactive programming, and his sensitive and technical prowess at the keyboard, he brings us a program that will showcase iconic works of two beloved composers: Felix Mendelssohn and Frédéric Chopin. After the performance, the audience will be invited to vote and comment on their favorite piece in real time
