The rest of the headers are masked.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the above headers are easy to forge, and this commonly occurs in cases of phishing and spam email. Fortunately, the\u00a0<strong>Received:<\/strong>\u00a0headers are extremely difficult to forge and can be used to identify the source of the offensive email.<\/p>\n<p>If you need to report a Proofpoint email filter error, abuse, phishing or other potentially harmful communication, you will need to send a copy of the email as an attachment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"mailto:abuse@uvm.edu\">abuse@uvm.edu<\/a> &#8211; for targeted phishing, or email scams.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"mailto:not-spam@uvm.edu\">not-spam@uvm.edu<\/a> &#8211; for False Positives (email that was sent to Junk that should have been delivered to your INBOX).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"mailto:is-spam@uvm.edu\">is-spam@uvm.edu<\/a> &#8211; for False Negatives (email that was delivered to your INBOX but should have gone to Junk)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Full headers allow our Help Desk and Information Security team to track a message back to the IP address from which it was sent; a message without full headers cannot be tracked.    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Not sure if an email is legitimate?<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\tThis method is for reporting phishing attempts.
