{"id":27594,"date":"2024-05-09T09:15:12","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T13:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=27594"},"modified":"2026-03-04T10:18:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T15:18:54","slug":"brightspace-video-note","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/article\/brightspace-video-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Brightspace &#8211; Video Note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As an instructor or TA,\u00a0you can add <strong>Video Notes<\/strong> (or choose audio-only) in content, announcements, discussions, feedback, and more to personalize and engage students.<\/p>\n<h2>Create a Video (or Audio) Note<\/h2>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--alert   hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t Video Note is used to make audio-only files, too.    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> There is an alternate way to leave video\/audio feedback when grading Assignments, Quizzes, or Discussions described further down on this page.<\/p>\n<p>The first way to add a Video note is using the &#8220;Insert Stuff&#8221; link in the HTML editor. When would you use this method?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You might do this to record video for a description area at the top of a module page<\/li>\n<li>Another way is on it&#8217;s own page linked in module:\n<ul>\n<li>Click &#8220;Upload\/Create&#8221; within a module<\/li>\n<li>choose &#8220;Create a File&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>On that page, you&#8217;ll see the same HTML editor as exists everywhere in Brightspace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <strong>HTML Editor <\/strong>(<em>See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/article\/brightspace-using-the-html-editor\/\">Brightspace \u2013 Using the HTML Editor<\/a>),<\/em><br \/>\nselect\u00a0 the icon for <strong>Insert Stuff<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/HTML-Editor-Insert-Stuff.png\" rel=\"lightbox-0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28062\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/HTML-Editor-Insert-Stuff.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"44\" height=\"40\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Add Video Note\u00a0<\/strong>from the <strong>Insert Stuff <\/strong>options.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Record Webcam Video<\/strong>\u00a0and then\u00a0<strong>New Recording.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Toggle <strong>Audio only<\/strong> if you don&#8217;t want to use your camera<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Stop Recording<\/strong>\u00a0when you are finished.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Type in a\u00a0<strong>Title<\/strong>, <strong>Description (optional),<\/strong> select language, and <strong>Automatically generate captions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Insert\u00a0<\/strong>to insert the video in the topic.<\/li>\n<li>Select<strong> Save<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>ReUse<\/h2>\n<p>If you want the reuse a video\/audio file in this course or even in a different section, you can use the Media Library which collects all the media you&#8217;ve created your courses:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the Content &amp; Activities and the Module<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Existing Activities<\/strong> and <strong>Media Library.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Scan videos listed or put in the title of the video and select <strong>Search.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select the video once you have found it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Captioning<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Important: <\/strong>Captioning is mandatory for all videos and audio (ADA Title II Accessibility Rule).
