\"\"<\/a>UVM is a participating member of the eduroam federation. Eduroam is a globally distributed network access system developed to create a ubiquitous wireless network at all participating providers.<\/p>\n

Any UVM student, faculty, or staff who travels to a participating eduroam institution has access to that institution’s wireless network using their UVM credentials, while also protecting their credentials and ensuring their safety. Similarly, it allows any affiliate of an eduroam participator to use their credentials at UVM to securely access wireless networking resources.<\/p>\n

Eduroam is available in thousands of locations across over 100 countries worldwide, from campuses to coffee shops. After you configure a device for eduroam on campus, it will automatically connect to eduroam wherever it is available.<\/p>\n

The following guides will help you connect to UVM’s Eduroam wireless network. The guide includes steps for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. If you have connected on your device previously, you may first need to forget the network.<\/a><\/p>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\tWhen Connecting at Another Institution<\/span> \t\t\t \t\t\t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tIf you’re trying to connect to an Eduroam network at another institution you’ll have to enter your username as your_netID@uvm.edu<\/em><\/strong> in order to connect successfully. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

  1. Click on the network icon from your icon tray (normally, in the bottom right corner of your screen). Click the arrow (<\/i><\/strong>) to the right of the Wi-Fi<\/strong> symbol (<\/i><\/strong>).

  2. If Wi-Fi is off<\/strong>, click the toggle switch (<\/i><\/strong>) to turn it back on.

  3. Select eduroam <\/strong>from the list of available networks, then ensure the Connect Automatically<\/strong> option is checked, and click Connect<\/strong>. \"\"<\/a><\/li>\n
  4. Click Connect<\/strong> again to continue.\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Enter your UVM NetID and password, then click OK<\/strong>.

  6. Click Connect<\/strong>\u00a0again when the following prompt is displayed:

  7. You should now see the filled wireless icon, indicating a successful connection to the wireless network.

    4. You should now be connected to the wireless network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n \t\t\t\t\tIf these steps don’t work for you, we recommend connecting to the internet via Ethernet while setting up Wi-Fi. Once it’s set up, you should be able to disconnect the Ethernet cable and just use Wi-Fi. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

        \nServer CA certificate: Default<\/strong>

        1. Click the drop-down carrot in the top right corner. Under the Wi-Fi area, click on “Select Network”.

          \n \t\t\t\t\tWhile the UVM Tech Team recognizes the popularity of the Raspberry Pi by providing this guide, we do not offer extended support for wpa_supplicant<\/strong> configurations.
          \nThis guide was last tested July 2021 on a Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspberry Pi OS kernel 5.10<\/strong> (May 2021) \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

          \n \t\t<\/p>\n

          This guide assumes you have some knowledge of Linux operating systems. You should also change the default password of your pi account!<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. From a different device, download this certificate<\/strong><\/a>, you’ll need it later. We suggest putting the cert on a USB flash drive to easily move it to your Pi.<\/li>\n
          2. On your pi, create a directory for the cert to live:\n
             sudo mkdir \/etc\/certs<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
          3. Copy the cert to the \/etc\/certs directory:\n
             sudo cp -v \/path\/to\/USERTrust_RSA_CS_2038.cer \/etc\/certs\/<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
          4. Use nano to edit the \/etc\/dhcpcd.conf file:\n
            sudo nano \/etc\/dhcpcd.conf<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
          5. Add the following lines to the bottom of the \/etc\/dhcpcd.conf file:\n
            interface wlan0 \r\nenv ifwireless=1\r\nenv wpa_supplicant_driver=wext,nl80211<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
          6. Launch the Raspberry Pi configuration menu:\n
