\"OneDrive<\/a>OneDrive is a cloud-based storage and synchronization service operated by Microsoft as part of its Office Online suite. This service enables you to share and access files from all of your Internet-connected devices. UVM accounts with Office 365 A3 licenses (current students, staff, and faculty) have 1TB of OneDrive storage, and those with A1 licenses (primarily retired staff and faculty) have 100GB. OneDrive meets the requirements of UVM’s Data Security Policy for storing high-risk data, but it should not be used to store or share PHI data.<\/p>\n

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tThe installed apps below sync data to the device they’re installed on. Doing so runs the risk of saving protected or privileged UVM data to an unmanaged device, which is a violation of UVM security policies. If you would like to access your OneDrive data from a personally-owned device, use OneDrive online<\/a> instead. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n \t\t

OneDrive comes pre-installed on Windows 11 devices. If you are running an older version of Windows, you can download OneDrive from onedrive.com\/download<\/a>, but please consider upgrading.<\/p>\n

  1. Click the Start Menu (<\/i><\/strong>) button or press the Windows (<\/i><\/strong>) key, and then search for “onedrive” and select the OneDrive App<\/strong> from the search results.\"Start<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Enter your UVM email address, and then click Sign In<\/strong>.

    2. Launch the installer and follow the installation prompts using the default settings.<\/li>\n
    3. After the installation of OneDrive has finished, open OneDrive\u00a0<\/strong>from your Applications folder or by searching “onedrive” in spotlight search.\"Applications<\/a><\/li>\n
    4. Enter your UVM email address, and then click Sign In.<\/strong><\/li>\n

      \n \t\t\t\t\tUVM Enterprise Technology Services does not officially support the Linux operating system. We provide these instructions because they have been approved for use, but we do not have the resources for additional troubleshooting when things don’t work. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

      \n \t\t\tInstructions vary by distribution and desktop environment<\/span> \t\t\t \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

      \n \t\t\t\t\tInstructions may vary depending on the version of Linux you use. You’ll need to search online for something like “open Terminal on Debian” if the steps below do not line up. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

      1. Open the Terminal<\/strong> application. One way to do this could be to tap the Windows key on your keyboard (<\/i><\/strong>), type “terminal”, and hit Enter.

      2. Type sudo<\/code>, followed by the OneDrive install command for your operating system, and hit Enter. The command will look something like:\n
        sudo yum install onedrive<\/pre>\n
        or<\/p>\n
        sudo apt-get install onedrive<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Respond to any dependency, confirmation, and root password prompts, hitting Enter after typing each response.<\/li>\n
      4. Once complete, it might be a good idea to restart your computer. Then, open the terminal again and run OneDrive with this command:\n
        onedrive<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
      5. You will likely see something like the following in the Terminal window. Ctrl+click or copy+paste the provided URL\u00a0into a web browser.

      6. If prompted, sign in to your UVM account, and respond to any DUO prompts.<\/li>\n
      7. A blank page will load. Copy and paste the text from the address bar back into the Terminal window and hit Enter.

      8. Once the a<\/strong>pplication has been successfully authorised <\/strong>(as reported through the Terminal window), run one of the following commands:\n

        1. to perform a one-time sync of your OneDrive data:\n

        2. to turn on automatic sync and keep your filesystem and backup up-to-date:\n
          onedrive --monitor<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n

                After installing and signing into OneDrive, you will find a new folder available on your computer called OneDrive – University of Vermont<\/strong>. \"File<\/a><\/p>\n
                While the OneDrive application is open, the contents of this folder will automatically sync to your OneDrive cloud storage. You can monitor for file uploads, downloads, and other activity by clicking the OneDrive icon in your Windows icon tray or macOS menu bar. \"OneDrive<\/a><\/p>\n
                If you set up OneDrive on another device, any updates to files and folders stored in your OneDrive space will be synced across your devices. If you use a large amount of your OneDrive space, consider enabling Files On-Demand<\/a>.<\/p>\n
