UVM has several calendars that you can add to your individual UVM calendar. This guide details the different methods alongside links to the commonly requested calendars. Once added, these calendars can be toggled on or off.<\/p>\n

Adding these calendars will not block scheduling of your own calendar, but they provide a convenient way to view important UVM calendar information within your calendaring app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Outlook Calendar<\/strong>: A custom UVM Outlook calendar. These links are alternative ways to view the calendars found by Adding a Calendar from the Directory in the steps below.<\/em>
\nWebCal Subscription<\/strong>: A web-based way to access the Outlook calendar that you can add to Outlook (the native calendar method is better) and also available to external users and other calendar apps.<\/p>\n

Adding a Calendar from the Directory<\/h2>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tThis is the most straightforward way to add a UVM campus calendar to Outlook. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n \t\t

  1. Select the Calendar<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
  2. Make sure the sidebar is shown to the left of the event view; if it\u2019s hidden, toggle it with the menu button (<\/i>).\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Click Add calendar<\/strong>.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
  4. Click Add from directory<\/strong>, then select your own account from the drop-down menu.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
  5. Enter the name of the calendar (e.g. UVM Administrative Closures<\/strong>, UVM Academic Calendar<\/strong>, or UVM Interfaith Calendar<\/strong>), click the listed result, and then click Add<\/strong>.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
  6. A success message should show at the bottom of the Add calendar<\/strong> pane, which can now be closed. The shared calendar should now be available to select from the People\u2019s calendars<\/strong> group.\"Cropped<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Select the Calendar<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
    2. From the Home<\/strong> tab of the ribbon, click Add <\/strong>and then\u00a0Open Shared Calendar…<\/strong>. You likely have to click the ellipsis menu (<\/i>) first to show More commands<\/strong>.

    3. Click Name…<\/strong> to bring up the full search window.

    4. Search for the calendar (e.g. UVM Administrative Closures<\/strong>, UVM Academic Calendar<\/strong>, or UVM Interfaith Calendar<\/strong>), select it from the results, and then click OK<\/strong>.\"\"<\/a><\/li>\n

    6. Click the checkbox next to the newly added calendar in the left sidebar to view it.

      \n \t\t\t\t\tTo see if you are using New Outlook, expand the Outlook menu in the upper-left corner of the screen and look for a checkmark next to Legacy Outlook. If there is no checkmark, you are using New Outlook.<\/p>\n

          \n \t\t\t\t\tDue to a necessary configuration of the Resource Calendar, it may appear in the From: field in Outlook. You will be unable to send email as this account, and can safely disregard the address.<\/p>\n

          Adding an Internet Calendar as a Subscription<\/h2>\n \t\t

          \r\n \t\t\t\t\tIf you are using Outlook with a UVM netid account, adding the calendar(s) from the directory (described above) is strongly preferred. Using the webcal subscription option may be helpful for folks using Outlook or other calendar apps with a non-UVM email account.\u00a0 \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n \t\t

          1. Select the Calendar<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
          2. Make sure the sidebar is shown on the left side of the window; if it\u2019s hidden, toggle it with the menu button (<\/i>).\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
          3. Click Add calendar<\/strong>.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
          4. Click the Subscribe from web<\/strong> button. Paste in the calendar URL, like one of the WebCal Links<\/strong> ending in .ics<\/strong> from the table above.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
          5. Choose the name for the calendar according to preference, and optionally style and group, then click the Import<\/strong> button.\"Diagram<\/a><\/li>\n
          6. A success message should show at the bottom of the Add calendar pane, which you can now Dismiss <\/strong>(<\/i>). Now that it is added, the shared calendar should now be visible in the chosen calendar group, Other Calendars<\/strong> in this example.\"Cropped<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            There are two options for adding a subscription-based internet calendar to Outlook (classic).<\/p>\n

            Add from a file<\/h4>\n
              \n
            1. Download and open a .ics<\/strong> file, like one of the three found in the WebCal Links<\/strong> column of the table at the top of this article.<\/li>\n
            2. If you are prompted to choose a program to open the link, select Outlook (classic) <\/strong>and click Just once<\/strong>.\"Windows<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Add from within the application<\/h4>\n
                \n
              1. Right-click and Copy link address<\/strong> of the internet calendar you wish to subscribe to, like one of the WebCal Links<\/strong> ending in .ics<\/strong> from the table above.<\/li>\n
              2. In Outlook (classic), select the Calendar<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
              3. Click <\/i> Add<\/strong>\u00a0and select From Internet…<\/strong>. You may have to first click the ellipsis button (<\/i>) to expand the More commands<\/strong> menu.

                Outlook for Mac<\/h3><\/div>\r\n \t\t\t

                You cannot subscribe to internet calendars using Outlook for Mac, due to limitations of the software. Follow the instructions above using Outlook Online<\/a> to add your internet calendar subscription. The subscribed calendar will then appear in Outlook for Mac.<\/p>\n
