Many rooms will also come equipped with a pen display, which can be used as a virtual whiteboard for remote or hybrid teaching modalities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/classroom-technology-services\">UVM Classroom Technology Services<\/a> regularly updates our General Purpose campus classrooms &#8211; if you are teaching in a GP room, consider going in early and familiarizing yourself with the available equipment.<\/p>\n<h2>Using Classroom Lookup<\/h2>\n<p class=\"button-kb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/classroom-lookup-tool\">Classroom Lookup Tool<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Paired with this page are classroom-specific instructions, available at the link above. Reach out early!<\/p>\n<p>    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p>Articles for General Purpose (GP) Classrooms will have a few consistent sections:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>An intro listing which equipment to expect.<\/li>\n<li>One or more sections outlining how to use the control panels.<\/li>\n<li>An &#8220;Other Equipment&#8221; section for help with peripherals like microphones.<\/li>\n<li>An &#8220;Additional Info&#8221; section with contact info for the Tech Team.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Classroom Computers<\/h2>\n<p>All General Purpose (GP) classrooms are equipped with a Windows 11 presenter station computer. To host a remote lecture, this computer must be used to join and record Teams meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The presenter station computer will provide you with access to Microsoft Teams, a webcam and microphone, allow you to use a pen display for writing and sharing OneNote notes or virtual whiteboards, as well as the ability to share the document camera video feed with both in person and remote students.<\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--alert  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Using a personal computer?<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>There are a lot of valid reasons for wanting to use your laptop for teaching. However, if you are hosting a hybrid or remote lecture, <strong>you must use the classroom computer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Teams allows you to log into <strong>multiple computers<\/strong> using the <strong>same account<\/strong> simultaneously. Join the Teams meeting on your laptop and share content with the meeting &#8211; no cable required. Meanwhile, join the meeting through the presenter station&#8217;s Teams client to display your content to the room.<\/p>\n<p>    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\"><h3>Fall 2020 Changes<\/h3><\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h4>Important changes to Classroom Computers for Fall 2020<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Documentation for GP classrooms is available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/classroom-lookup-tool\">Classroom Lookup Tool<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/article\/about-uvm-accounts-and-access\/\">NetID credentials<\/a> are now required to login to the computer.\u00a0 You will need to log <strong>out<\/strong> of the computer after class. Steps for logging in are available in the Getting Started section for each room in the link above.<\/li>\n<li>Inactivity of the mouse or keyboard for longer than 20 minutes will lock the screen and require that you enter your NetID password to unlock.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Teams has been installed and will launch by default after logging into the computer. The first time you visit a classroom you will need to sign into Teams after signing into your account on the computer, thereafter Teams will start and log in automatically when you log into your account.<\/li>\n<li>For security and stability reasons, software installation for use by any user on GP classroom computers is not permitted &#8211; if you are dependent on specific software being installed on a GP classroom computer please submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/kb\/classroom-software-request\/\">request for software\u00a0<\/a>and we will do our best to accommodate.<\/li>\n<li>Laptops &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">do <strong>not<\/strong> use HDMI or VGA to connect your laptop to the projector.<\/span> Doing so will prevent you from being able to share the document camera, or pen display with remote students. Instead, join the Teams meeting from the presenter computer so the webcam, mic, and speaker can be used &#8211; <strong>then<\/strong> join the meeting from your laptop using Teams on the laptop to share content with the class. These steps are documented in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/classroom-lookup-tool\">Classroom Lookup Tool<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Document Cameras &#8211; The process for sharing the document camera has changed to allow in-person and remote students to see the same image. The Windows Camera App is used to display the video from the document camera on the screen so that it may be shared by the Teams client.\u00a0 Steps for sharing the document camera with in-person and remote students are available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/it\/classroom-lookup-tool\">Classroom Lookup Tool<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n<h2>Classroom Equipment<\/h2>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\"><h3>Microphones and Mic Packs<\/h3><\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--alert  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Microphones are shared<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\n    \t\t\t\t\tETS is no longer handing out microphones for individual use. Those who would prefer not to share a microphone may purchase their own personal mics, if desired.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\n    \t\t<\/p>\n<p>In classrooms where mic packs have been made available, you&#8217;ll find a few different kinds of microphones.
