This guide provides steps for restoring messages and folders that were accidentally moved to the Deleted Items folder, as well as steps for how to recover messages when the Deleted Items folder is emptied.<\/p>\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\tImportant messages should never be stored in the deleted items folder<\/span> \t\t\t \t\t\t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tThe Deleted Items<\/strong> folder is essentially the Trash folder of your Exchange email account, and will automatically purge any messages older than 90 days of<\/strong> age.<\/p>\n

Consider using the\u00a0Archive<\/strong> folder for messages that may be important in the future.\u00a0 \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

  1. Navigate to Outlook Online<\/a>. Sign in with your NetID and Password if prompted.<\/li>\n
  2. Open the Deleted Items<\/strong> folder and select any messages you’d like to restore. Then click the folder-with-arrow icon and select Inbox<\/strong>.

    Restore a deleted folder<\/h3><\/div>\r\n \t\t\t

    1. Navigate to Outlook Online<\/a>. Sign in with your NetID and Password if prompted.<\/li>\n
    2. Deleted folders will appear as subfolders of the Deleted Items<\/strong> folder. To view these folders, expand the Deleted Items folder by clicking the caret icon.
      \n      \"Exchange<\/a><\/li>\n
    3. To restore a folder, click-and-drag it outside of Deleted Items.
      \n      \"Exchange<\/a><\/li>\n
    4. You should now see the restored folder in your folder list, no longer nested inside Deleted Items.

      Restore email using the 'Recover Deleted Items' feature<\/h3><\/div>\r\n \t\t\t

      If your message was purged or your Deleted Items<\/strong> folder is empty, you may still be able to retrieve your message using the Recover items deleted from this folder <\/strong>feature.<\/p>\n

      \n \t\t\tPurged Items may still be recoverable<\/span> \t\t\t \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

      \n \t\t\t\t\tWhen a message has been purged from the Deleted Items<\/strong> folder, it will be recoverable for 30 days via the Recover deleted items feature<\/strong>.\u00a0Please note that this feature will not restore folder hierarchy, only messages. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

      1. Navigate to Outlook Online<\/a>. Sign in with your NetID and Password if prompted.<\/li>\n
      2. Open the Deleted Items<\/strong> folder.
        \n<\/a><\/li>\n
      3. Click Recover items deleted from this folder (# items)<\/strong>, which is found above the list of messages if any purged items are recoverable.\"Exchange<\/a><\/li>\n
      4. To restore a single message, click-and-drag it back to the Inbox.\u00a0 To restore multiple, check <\/i><\/strong> each message you’d like to recover, and then click Restore<\/strong>.
