Human Subjects Participation

In conjunction with the Office of Clinical Trials Research (OCTR), we have produced these brochures for subjects interested in participating in research at UVM and UVM Medical Center. These brochures can be used for both Clinical and Behavioral research.

The brochures were created to help subjects with the following questions:

• Should I participate in a research study?
• What should I expect if I participate in a research study?
• What is Informed Consent?
• Can I Leave the Study?

Additionally, the brochures provide a list of questions for subjects to ask about informed consent and contain institutional contact information for subjects with any additional questions.

The IRB will initially distribute a limited supply of these brochures to departments. For future copies, please feel free to download the PDF versions (below), to give to your subjects and to stock your brochure racks. We have provided "press-ready" versions of the brochures if you would like to have them professionally printed through UVM's Print and Mail center (significantly lower prices for brochures than most other print centers). Contact our office if there are any problems with this process.][
