Professor in class

Our Mission: To further the academic, social, and professional success of Honors College students by providing a student perspective regarding curriculum and policy decisions.

Established in 2014, the Honors College Student Advisory Group advises the Honors College leadership on college curriculum, programs, and policies. The group also provides a student perspective on opportunities in the Honors College related to academic excellence, experiential and professional growth, and the culture of residential learning.

The group seeks to be fully representative of the Honors College by including students from all four class years. Its goal is to have one student from each college serve as a member in the group, and the group is a mix of students who came into the Honors College through the first year admission process as well as through the sophomore admission process.

HCSAG meets monthly during the academic year to review and comment on Honors College initiatives. To contact the group with comments or questions, please email them at uvmhcsag@gmail.com.

2018-2019 Priorities and Projects

An Honors Day of Service: During the 2018-2019 year the group will be organizing an Honors day of service open to the entire Honors College community

2017-2018 Projects

Honors Junior/Senior Professional Development: In January 2018 the group brought together the Honors upperclass students and hosted an evening panel with recent Honors College alumni to discuss Honors coursework and research and its impact on professional life

Four Year Plan for Thesis Success: Choosing a research topic, finding a mentor, and completing an Honors Thesis can is a rewarding-yet-daunting. During the 2016-2017 academic year the Honors College Student Advisory Group created The Four Year Plan for Thesis Success, a student-designed guide for taking steps throughout college to prepare for the senior capstone project. During the 2017-2018 year the group plans to implemented the plan through Honors advising initiatives.
