Have you ever felt uneasy about a situation and wanted to help but didn’t? If so, then you’re not alone. This is known as the bystander effect—when an individual does not offer help to a victim in the presence of others. Step Up! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that aims to combat this effect by increasing an individual’s motivation to help others and educating students about appropriate ways to intervene in problematic situations.
