Planning on quarantining with UVM? Here's what you should know ahead of time to help you plan and understand expectations.

This option is for students living on campus who are traveling via public transportation or making a prolonged stop. Due to capacity, this option is only available if you signed Youp via Spring Planning Form.  For more information regarding quarantine move-in, please visit Residential Life’s Spring Return to Campus website.

Residential Life and Student Health Services will be coordinating and manage arrival quarantine at the DoubleTree Hotel.  Quarantine will last January 19–28.

Check-in Process

You must begin your arrival quarantine check-in process by reporting directly to your assigned residence hall’s front desk between 8 AM and 10 PM on January 19. Please do not drive directly to the hotel.

After checking in at the front desk of the residence hall, you will receive information about shuttle services to the quarantine location.  If the timeframe listed does not work for you, students and families can arrive the night before and stay in a local hotel as long as you remain in quarantine and only leave the hotel for move-in.

You will be able to move your belongings into your assigned permanent room and pick up any available mail before boarding the shuttle to the hotel. Please remember that family members and other guests may not enter the residence hall.

Make sure you bring anything necessary items because you won't be able to access your permanent room again until you complete quarantine. Students will be predominantly in double rooms with an assigned roommate.  We will be sure to honor all existing gender-neutral housing requests and housing accommodations needs currently on file.

Quarantine Experience

At the quarantine location most students will stay in double rooms with an assigned roommate. We will be sure to honor all existing gender-neutral housing requests and housing accommodations needs currently on file.

Please keep in mind that you are completing a State and University mandated quarantine for the purpose of observing and monitoring your health status for the potential development of symptoms. During this time contact with others, aside from your assigned roommate, must be minimized as much as possible.

Day 1 and 2: During the first two days of quarantine, you may only leave your room to pick your meals from UVM Dining Services while awaiting the results of your Day 0 test. You should call the on-call number if you have any issues and you may not have food delivered to the hotel during this time.

Day 3 and beyond: You may leave your room only to attend UVM scheduled activities for your cohort and to pick up your meals. There are a variety of virtual and in person programs and activities during quarantine, but overall, you will spend the majority of the time in your assigned room.

Professional staff will be on-site and living at the hotel 24/7. These staff members will be a regular presence in the community and will be a great resource for any issue issues that come up. In addition, a UVM information desk will be staffed to help you with any questions or issues that may arise.

Please note: Congregating in common areas, other student rooms, and leaving the property are egregious violations of the Green and Gold Promise as well as quarantine expectations and and could result in significant sanctions including suspension. Because eating requires you to remove your face covering, all meals will be consumed in your assigned room.

Explore the welcome guide for detailed information about quarantine, including daily events, meal schedules, and more.
