Gund Fellow, Associate Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Ehsan Ghazanfari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Vermont. The general theme of his research is sustainable energy production, with the goal of facilitating the transition from fossil fuels toward renewable energy alternatives. His active areas of research include development of shallow and deep geothermal systems, geo-mechanical and environmental aspects of shale energy and geological carbon storage, and environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing used in different energy technologies. He has published on development of geothermal energy systems and mitigating the environmental impacts of hydraulic fracturing in shale energy.
