Data Table

  • Title: Major Ion Concentration
  • Start Date: 1998-08-01
  • End Date: 1998-10-12
  • Description: The concentration of major ions (Ca2+, K+, Mg2+, Na+ and SO(4)2) from cloudwater and throughfall raw data samples collected on the summit of Mount Mansfield, VT. Please note that -555 = <0.005 and -55=<0.05.

  • Purpose: Quantify the deposition of major ions due to cloud immersion and characterize the chemistry of throughfall.

Methods

  • Past Methods (no longer in use)
    • Sample collection
      • Started: 1998-08-18
        Ended: 1998-10-12
      • Method Description: Fog water and throughfall is collected during periods when clouds are present but no precipitation is occuring. Samples are analyzed in the lab for the major ions calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium and sulfate.

    • Sampling Events
      • Started: 1998-08-18
        Ended: 1998-10-12
      • Method Description: Eight cloud events were sampled from August 10 to October 16, and 3 events for cloud drip.
