dataset_eml_abstractheader

This project evaluated carbon storage, sequestration, and removals on the Nash Stream Forest (NSF), New Hampshire’s largest state-owned property. Using a combination of Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) data, FIA-enhanced Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) runs, and detailed harvest and scale slip records from 1997–2024, the analysis quantified live above- and below-ground carbon stocks, modeled growth rates, and measured harvest outflows. Transportation emissions from hauling harvested wood to mills were also calculated. Results provide a comprehensive carbon balance assessment for NSF, situating outcomes within the broader context of sustainable forest management and enabling direct comparison to earlier FEMC work on Pisgah State Park.

    • dataset_eml_datatabledescription: This workbook summarizes 28 years of harvest activity, converting species-specific volumes from scale slips into annual carbon removals. It includes per-sale and per-acre removal intensity, carbon conversion factors, treated acreage, and derived annual statistics used in Figures 1–3. These values serve as the primary removal dataset for carbon accounting, regrowth attribution, and comparison with modeled sequestration. Transport emissions are linked through haul distances in the scale-slip ledger.
