This project evaluated carbon storage, sequestration, and removals on the Nash Stream Forest (NSF), New Hampshire’s largest state-owned property. Using a combination of Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) data, FIA-enhanced Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) runs, and detailed harvest and scale slip records from 1997–2024, the analysis quantified live above- and below-ground carbon stocks, modeled growth rates, and measured harvest outflows. Transportation emissions from hauling harvested wood to mills were also calculated. Results provide a comprehensive carbon balance assessment for NSF, situating outcomes within the broader context of sustainable forest management and enabling direct comparison to earlier FEMC work on Pisgah State Park.

dataset_eml_datatabledescription: This file contains annualized growth outputs from calibrated FVS NE Variant simulations using both CFI-only and FIA+CFI plot sets. It includes aboveground and total live biomass, mortality, periodic annual increment, and associated standard errors. These data provide the primary sequestration estimates used for whole-forest growth, aboveground-only comparisons with Pisgah, and spatial scenario modeling. Values are averaged across plots and scaled to the full 39,980-acre ownership for carbon balance calculations.
