UVM Extension is hiring for an assistant professor in the area of community development.
The person in this position will work across the state to: 1) provide educational outreach, technical assistance, and program leadership that builds citizens' capacity to identify goals and develop systems to implement those goals; and 2) grow and lead a statewide extension program based on sustaining and strengthening Vermont communities. The position requires engagement with a wide range of agencies, organizations and stakeholders to promote equitable access to resources and opportunities through educational outreach and applied research.
A Ph.D. in community or economic development, rural sociology or a related discipline is required. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in program development, implementation and evaluation. Demonstrated expertise in applied research and program management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences will be required.
This is a union-represented, 12 month, 0.80 FTE faculty position with the opportunity to increase to 1.0 FTE through grants. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will be housed in one of UVM Extension's 11 field offices. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required. Frequent travel throughout the state might be expected along with occasional overnight travel for conferences, meetings, etc.
