The Garifuna Collective
Channeling the soul of Garifuna culture, the Garifuna Collective brings the energy, vibrancy, and melodic intricacies of their Caribbean-via-South American heritage to life in spectacular rhythm. The band, a collection of seasoned musicians spanning generations, pays homage to traditional Garifuna songs while finding new means of continuing the ever-evolving musical conversation. Their 2007 record with Garifuna god Andy Palacio, Watina, is a contemporary classic that launched Garifuna music to worldwide popularity.
Presented in association with the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity, and Multicultural Affairs through the UVM President's Initiative for Diversity.
