Gund Tea Series - Yolanda Chen: Origin and Management of Insect Pests in Agroecosystems

Feb 23, 2018
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Johnson House 101

Although ecosystem services such as pest control in agriculture are derived from patterns of biodiversity, there has been generally little attention as to how historical anthropogenic, ecological, and evolutionary processes have shaped agroecosystems. Research in my lab is broadly focused on how humans have impacted the ecology and evolution of insect-plant interactions in agriculture, namely through crop domestication and human-mediated migration. We are currently studying how these themes at different geographical scales to determine how ecological and evolutionary knowledge can improve pest management within a globalized world.
