(OLLI AT UVM PRESENTS) Nobel Laureate: Life & Literary Works of Toni Morrison with Robert Weibezahl
When Toni Morrison was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1993 she was the tenth American writer to be given this most prestigious literary award, and only the second American woman. Renowned for her powerful, lyrical, and mythic fiction, Morrison is revered for such modern classics as The Bluest Eye, Song of Solomon, Jazz, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Beloved. In this one-session introductory seminar we will explore Morrison's life and work, dipping into two of her short stories, and discussing her place in the American literary canon. The instructor will provide copies of/links to the stories for reading prior to class.
