This annual three-day event offers 30+ workshops and presentations thanks to the expertise and generosity of volunteer presenters, including staff, faculty and community members. PDT is proud to provide important work-life programming in partnership with these exceptional guest presenters, promoting education, understanding and development for UVM employees

Professional Development & Training

Throughout the academic year, Professional Development & Training provides programming to UVM employees free of charge as part of their benefits package. Learning opportunities include certificate programs, webinars, one-on-one trainings and classes offered in six tracks:

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Personal Effectiveness

  • Policy, Procedure, Reporting and Legal Issues

  • Software Proficiency

  • Supervision, Management and Leadership

What is EDU@UVM

EDU@UVM is a three-day signature learning event focused on staff development. This annual event brings colleagues together from across campus to share knowledge, cultivate skills and master the intricacies of UVM. All workshops aim to positively impact the work life of UVM employees through the three EDU@UVM objectives: educate, develop, understand.


Educate employees on new topics and perspectives, improving our cross-cultural competence, our ability to work more effectively and thoughtfully and grow as employees, benefitting the UVM community as a whole.


Develop professionally through technical and leadership skills training and continue to develop our strong interpersonal skills.


Understand and navigate the policies, procedures and future developments specific to UVM.

Workshop Locations

EDU@UVM is held on campus every year during Spring Break. The keynote is held in the Davis Center and the learning sessions take place at various classrooms on campus.


If you cannot attend, you may send a substitute by emailing If you are unable to find a substitute, please notify us in writing one week in advance. There is no cancellation fee.


Registration is required for all sessions.

Confirmation emails will be sent to the registrant after their registration is complete.

A reminder email will be sent the week before EDU@UVM and will contain location information.
