Keep On Teaching: Avoiding Burnout and Supporting Students (In-Person or Remotely)

Friday, February 10, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

The challenge of engaging students has hit instructors hard in the last few years. Remote instruction left many students feeling stressed out and disconnected. Even as campuses have reopened, instructors are still asking: How can I make class time more meaningful? And how can I support students without burning myself out?  This webinar, organized by the Chronicle of Higher Education’s Teaching Newsletter, will focus on how to recognize and mitigate instructor burnout and how to support students without overextending yourself.  Join us at the CTL to view the webinar together (note: there is a hybrid option, but you’ll have to register for the webinar separately to watch it at home.)

If you are joining us in-person in Howe Library (room TBD) from 2-3 we’ll watch the webinar together , and from 3-3:30, we’ll talk together in response to what we heard.

If you’re interested in participating remotely:
• sign up for the Chronicle Teaching newsletter (https://www.chronicle.com/account/newsletters)
in advance, register for the Chronicle webinar (https://connect.chronicle.com/2023-02-10-Teaching-Session2.html)
• participate in the Webinar at 2 pm on 2/10 from your own device and location
•  at 3 pm on 2/10, join us via the Teams link which you will receive the day prior

All registrants will receive a Teams calendar invitation prior to the discussion. The calendar invite will include a Teams link and a room number so that you can choose the modality that works for you.
