Contemplative Practices for Anti-Racist Education & Trauma Informed Teaching with Guest Speaker, Dr. Kamilah Majied

Thursday, May 20, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

This session is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Environmental Program, the Center for Health and Wellbeing, and the Center for Teaching & Learning.

UVM welcomes Dr. Kamilah Majied, Professor of Social Work, California State University, Monterey Bay, contemplative practitioner and inclusivity/equity consultant to speak with faculty, student services, and academic support staff via MS Teams.

During this session, Dr. Majied will provide practices that will help us attend to our own healing so that we may support students when they return next fall. Dr. Majjed will share her experience and expertise in navigating the collective and personal trauma many of us have been experiencing. She will also discuss how contemplative pedagogy can guide anti-racist course and curricula development and inform inclusive teaching practice.

More about Dr. Majied can be found on this page.
