Contemplative Teaching and Learning: Sitting Alongside Students  in Uncertain Times

Thursday, November 5, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Free

Join with colleagues during this week of great uncertainty and anticipated change to practice together in community and learn how contemplative practices can be incorporated into the classroom experience.

Contemplative practices encourage us to see things as they are while honoring the constantly changing nature of life. Contemplative teaching and learning practices invite the whole person into the classroom. Here, we may cultivate opportunities to sit alongside of students and share their experiences during these extremely challenging times.

The intent of this workshop is to practice together during a difficult week of uncertainty, explore pedagogical underpinnings of contemplative teaching and learning, and learn about opportunities for community at UVM. We will participate in intrapersonal practices that take us within our own experience, and have interpersonal dialogue in small groups. Each activity can be adapted to the classroom.

This workshop is facilitated by Laura Hill, CTL Faculty Associate & Senior Lecturer, Plant Biology.

Registration via this event listing is now closed. If  you would like to join us, please email Wendy at wverreib@uvm.edu
