Book Group: “A Field Guide To Climate Anxiety: How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet” (Jan 8, 15, & 22)

Friday, January 8, 2021 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Join colleagues and author Sarah Jaquette Ray for a three-part discussion of her book, “A Field Guide To Climate Anxiety: How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet” (2020).

Jaquette Ray, an environmental justice and environmental humanities scholar from Humboldt State University, draws on her “experience as a mother, professor, program leader, and certified member of the age of overwhelm” to craft strategies for cultivating resilience, based on research on emotion, social movement history, affect, and environmental philosophy. This book is written for written for both our “climate generation students” and those who teach and support them. Sarah will join us via Teams for each session as member of the group and together we will discuss ways to “do the work needed to ensure that we can all be the good ancestors to the many generations yet to come.”

More information about “A Field Guide To Climate Anxiety” can be found here.

It is also available as an e-book from Howe Library.

Upon registering for this group, you will receive reading assignments and guiding questions. All sessions will be held remotely via MS Teams. Register one time for all three sessions.

You will receive a Microsoft Teams calendar invitation 1-2 days prior to your event explaining how to join and participate in the meeting.  If you click “accept,” it will populate on your Teams calendar for easy access!
