Writers are born, not made.  Citing sources is easy. The passive voice should be avoided. Texting is killing writing.  Good writers are successful in every context. These are just some of the bad ideas about writing that get in the way of learning (and teaching). In this workshop, we’ll talk about common misconceptions about writing; we’ll also discuss disciplinary notions of writing. We’ll use participant experiences to identify strategies for replacing bad ideas about writing with better ones.
