The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for 2022-2023 Faculty Associates.

The CTL Faculty Associate Program provides a mechanism by which faculty can receive both recognition and compensation for their efforts in supporting colleagues in their teaching.

Program Description

The CTL Faculty Associate Program, initiated in 2017, is designed to enhance excellence in teaching by:

  • Providing opportunities for faculty-to-faculty networks for teaching and learning
  • Expanding the availability of individual teaching consultations tailored to specific needs
  • Increasing the institutional capacity for developing faculty leadership and skills in the peer consultation process

Our goal is to recruit faculty with expertise in varied instructional settings (e.g., large enrollment, seminar, lab) and representing varied disciplines (e.g., humanities, social science, natural science). Any UVM faculty with a full-time appointment are eligible to apply.

Faculty associates will allocate up to 30 hours across the academic year to CTL-related activities. A work plan will be developed collaboratively with the CTL Director and may include teaching consultations, program development and implementation, and website content creation. Consultations and programming occur both during the semester and during the remaining on-contract weeks in January, May, and August.

The Faculty Associate will be paid a rate of $75 per hour for up to 30 hours of work during the upcoming year (for a total of up to $2,250 in additional pay taxable income). Faculty associates are asked to make a one-year commitment and should coordinate with their department chairs for workload planning.
