CTL Faculty Associates, 2025-’26

We invite you to apply (by May 12th) for the 2025-26 CTL Faculty Associates Program. If you enjoy helping colleagues address pedagogical challenges, and if you thrive in moments when you’re connecting with and helping other instructors, being a Faculty Associate could be for you!

What Faculty Associates Do

CTL Faculty Associates work with our staff to develop and facilitate programming and to offer one-on-one consultations to other faculty. The role involves a variety of tasks throughout the year with plenty of room for both individual and collaborative work. In addition to individual consultations, past faculty associates have organized sessions on topics such as inclusive teaching, teaching in turbulent times, and active learning.

For 2025-26, we invite applications from colleagues who are interested in contributing to programming and consultations regarding the following themes:

    • The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL): work with the SoTL faculty working group and/or the SoTL Symposium
    • Neurodiversity and higher education: contribute to web content, workshops, and other resources
    • Metacognition and/or the learning sciences
    • Brightspace: contribute to development of Brightspace programming (such as a cohort group or showcases)
    • Equity-minded teaching and teaching in challenging times
    • Creating accessible course materials and learning spaces
    • Podcast about teaching at UVM
    • Propose-your-own (if you see a pedagogical need that the CTL could consider addressing and have ideas for how to do so)

Selection Criteria

Faculty Associates are selected based on their interests in relation to CTL priorities and experience with peer consulting and teaching.

Hours and Compensation

Faculty associates can work up to 30 hours over the course of the year. In 2024-25 they earned $77/hour (taxable pay); the 24-25 rate will be similar but adjusted in light of contract provisions.
